This is, I suppose, a sports story, against the SOP for GD. I think it is more. It is a metaphor for doing your best, against all odds.

It is to discuss the fourth try by 62 year old distance swimmer and former Olympian, Diana Niyad to swim from Cuba to the US.

How can you not admire this woman?

She is now two days into a four day swim. She has suffered jellyfish bites and the usual effects of so much time in salt water.

But she continues, one hand over the other, feet kicking in a steady rhythm.
