And to avoid being campaigned on as being a "Pelosi-lover" they made campaign promises not to vote for her as speaker if elected.

I'm not crazy about it, but you do what you gotta do to win your district.

She said as much many times. I also doubt she punishes them when it comes to committee assignments.

She doesn't need all the ego-stroking Trump does, I'm sure she just sees it as an opportunity to win people over, or to find a way to work with them.

I'm a little more peeved with the representatives who voted for people who aren't members of the House (I know it's permitted), but chose people in the Senate or currently retired from politics, which seems far more petty than voting for a preferred candidate who's actually serving in Congress or just voting "present", but basically, it has to be water under the bridge at this point. Onward!

No matter how "confident" people are of the eventual outcome. I think both 2000, 2004 and 2016 should have taught that lesson.

they can afford to give away on any major vote. For the long game, protecting vulnerable members is just as important as piling on a win.

As an earlier poster stated, Madam Speaker doesn't have the flaming ego of Mr. tRump and didn't need to pile on this win. Another benefit of strong, experienced leadership.
