so, liz cheney refers to herself as "congressman"-- really, lizzie? (Original Post) niyad Jan 2019 OP
Is this post attacking Cheney for using that term despite the fact that she's female? FreepFryer Jan 2019 #1
?? Because a DUer asking the question must have an ulterior motive, but Cheney's motives are pure? hlthe2b Jan 2019 #4
Logical fallacy - not defending the abhorrent cheney by pointing out that women are Congressmen too. FreepFryer Jan 2019 #7
No, women are NOT CongressMEN; Women are not MEN! Perhaps you skipped that class hlthe2b Jan 2019 #10
A woman can refer to herself as a Congressman. She's calling HERSELF one. If she calls others that, FreepFryer Jan 2019 #11

I did no such thing, and wouldn't - but thanks for the bonus admonition. (n/t) FreepFryer Jan 2019 #25

in genetic/biologic differentiation, but to insist a female Congressperson be called a CongressMAN IS Sexist.

They are ALL Congressional Representatives. They are NOT ALL CongressMEN.

As everyone can see, that's what I have argued here from the start.

There seems (to me) that there is a lot of bickering on DU lately about things that are relatively minor. Personally, I don't care how Liz refers to herself, nor do I get particularly offended that people do not sufficiently clarify their OP's by my version of how they should be written. But there does seem to be people that take offense quickly. It seems like almost every day someone is letting things get to them. That's fine. Let's just remember we are on the same side and we have a hell of a long way to go and don't need to bicker about the small stuff.
Since November we have seen some light at the end of the tunnel. Today was a great day.
