I'm disappointed in Romney

This is not a pro-Romney rant. He started out like gang-busters with his anti-Trump Op-Ed. But then ---- I actually looked forward to more of the same from him. But no, he will vote FOR the wall. Ah silly me, to expect anything different. So how easy is it to be for a pro-wall vote that will never happen?

I just want to point out the mental depravity of Romney. He takes a pro-morality and proper POTUS etiquette position, posing as a righteous moral man, yet refuses to voice all the detrimental effects of Trump's border wall. Not the least of which are environmental degradations. How is that any different from Evangelicals posing as righteous people, while spewing hate and ignorance, as they go about their grifting ways?

The Republican party is so stupid and heartless, which I guess is the definition of evil. I pledge right here, right now, that post primary election in Texas, I shall support each and every Dem on the ballot. I shall not engage in sore-loser-itis if my candidate loses.

strict Mormon religious fundamentalist. A True Believer. He's said so publicly many times, also that his life and his wife's are devoted to the service of God. Remember his religious undies?

Learn more about his religion, and a whole lot about him and his actions that doesn't make sense will. His belief that we will have to go to war against Russia and Iran, for instance, predates by decades Putin's recent behaviors and Iran's support of terrorism. He believes that Satan's forces will operate out of those nations during Armageddon. God's of course will be lead by America, and whoever God chooses to be its commander in chief. At this point I'm remembering his stunned shock on election night 2012. He holds himself humbly ready still, though, to answer God's call should it come.

Btw, although I sort of doubt he intends to use the presidency to somehow force men and women into dutiful Mormon roles, of course a great deal about how we live our lives, notably women's roles, will have to change. I imagine he believes we'll all be glad in our new happiness once God's kingdom is established, but the transition...

promising different audiences very different campaign pledges. in the same day even? Telling different audiences whatever they wanted to hear made good sense if you understood that none of them were his real goals, ones he very obviously could not admit to, and that he eventually had apparently come to believe God would have him win.

We really should all learn all we can about valid candidates for office. None of Romney's commitment to serving god, and nothing but, was ever a secret -- before he ran for one term as a governor and then on to the presidency anyway. Nor are the basic tenets of his religion, which are available to everyone. Like other committed fundamentalists, such as Ben Carson, when the real world and the teachings of the holy book conflict, the holy book rules and everything else is wrong, no dissonance, no doubt. Fundamentalists are strikingly lacking in intellectual curiosity (of course--the holy book contains all truth), and the ignorance that guarantees about many things is something a number of those who've known Romney commented on.

So, knowing his intense religiosity and very rigid belief system, I don't believe Romney "rolls over" for Trump. Exactly what role he's decided Trump plays in these end times I have no idea, but he would not denounce Trump if he believed Trump was chosen and placed by God to serve him. He would serve God by serving Trump.

Open to question is how much Romney fools himself that serving his own self interest is serving God's will, but not that he believes he does his best to determine God's will and serve it. And if that means routinely deceiving millions of unbelievers into voting for him, well, the great virtue and even duty of lying for good purpose is also sanctioned by his religion.

...particularly the bit about how he was told the walls and fences were to keep out people who wanted to work there.

The "guide" told him that. Mr. "I should be president because I'm such a sharp businessman" took the salesman at his word. And how much you want to bet he'd prove my point by responding "He wasn't a salesman, he was our guide." Uh-huh, sure he was, Mr. Sharpo. Wouldn't that be a $10G bet?

Not to mention, "Did you boost the pay of all those young women so they could build their nest eggs faster, so they could go get married and you could let in some of those people the fence was keeping out? I mean, surely even with a modest pay boost it would still be cheaper than the US factory it was replacing. Or did you just keep the extra eggs for your shareholders?"

We know the answer to that one.

To get the nomination he needs to support the Trump agenda enough to get votes from those GOP primary voters that generally agree with Trump's conservative policies but find Trump as insane and repulsive as most of us do.

In Utah in his own neighborhood of Holladay he lacked major support and was seen as too liberal. Of course, once he won the state nomination for Senate, those voters felt they had no choice but to vote for him. He needs to play the political game the same way to overtake Trump in the Presidential primary.
