Since I just watched it a couple weeks ago. It went like this...

“We wouldn’t be any good as generals.”
“You weren’t any good as privates.”

Trump lacks the discipline to be even a decent private. The notion that he could have advanced in the military is laughable.

I don't know about today's Army, but when I was drafted back during the Vietnam era basic training was 8 weeks of pure hell. Even worse if you were stuck in the Marine Corps. Trump would have been one of those Private E-1s doing everything possible to get kicked out of the military, even if it meant a general or dishonorable discharge.
