Would you rather have a totally awful Republican party that arouses....

... people to get rid of them. Or would you rather go back to Republicans with awful political stances, but who basically adhered to norms of civil interaction (Bush, Romney). I'm torn at the prospect of Romney rallying civilized Republicans and maybe beginning to re-make a party and make it harder to fight against.

What do you think?

Republicans will need to take a hard reckoning of their political party, but it isn't going to happen as long as the inmates are running the asylum like they are now.

I think that's one of the things which really helps a healthy and functioning democracy. Failing that, I'd rather they behave awfully while espousing decent ideas. If I couldn't have that, I'd like to see them behave somewhat but have bad ideas, as you note Romney represents. The GOP we have now is pretty much the worst-case scenario and all-around awful.
