Romney wants to be the next president

He knows that Trump is over and he will likely be the next Republican nominee for president.

He knows that we Democrats are divided.

He knows that he could possibly win.

We must put up the absolute best we have.

On DU, "the absolute best we have" is in question.

Nonetheless, we cannot consider another Republican (even Romney) in the White House.

Whichever of our 20 or 30 plus candidates wins the nomination, we must all back him or her.

If/when it comes to it, anyone who votes for Romney is buying a ticket to hell on earth.

The next president must be a Democrat.

Scanning some of the usual RWNJ hangouts, they HATE this guy.

I can't see Mittens winning the primary. Maybe if Trump decides not run or is forced to resign, but even then, most moderates have abandoned the GOP, and even though Mittens is pretty hard right, he just doesn't satisfy the MAGAts.

We aren't even close to as divided as the Republicans. You need go no further than your own op to see that. We are talking about a situation where the Republicans are looking to primary their own President or have a front runner ready. That is divided. Considering how vast our party is I say it's pretty stable.

"The next president must be a Democrat."

So true. I am actually of the belief we will be in a better position if we face Romney. Trump fever is real and a lot of the Republican base has it. Many of Trumps most ardent supporters are not new to the game. They will be furious if they don't get their shot at a second term. Of course things could change in the next couple of months.

2010 when Democrats refused to run their campaigns without any input from President Obama...Big mistake.
As far as Bernie Sanders...this time Bernie needs to stay on the porch and watch.
Elizabeth Warren is building one fantastic campaign staff and I believe she is what Democratic voters were waiting for.

On DU, "the absolute best we have" is in question.

But I also think that the vast majority of our "disagreements" are being caused, once again, by trouble makers who want cause problems and stir things up. This happens every election cycle around here, and sadly so many fall into the trap made by trolls and shit stirrers.

We have to stop helping the trolls win. I know it's hard to not get caught up in the arguments, but that's what the trolls want. We need positive threads that help unite us, not divide us.

He so conveniently forgets that NO ONE, republican or Democrat ever liked him. Most, if not all, republican politicians could not stand the man and I'm sure he is no more likable now than he was is 2008 and 2012.

Meanwhile, he will do or say whatever he thinks will get him to the White House, even sport a fake tan to connect with Hispanic voters.......oops, he already did that!

It's been pointed out that Romney was suspiciously brown for his Wednesday night interview with Latino TV station Univision and the accusations are flying that he purposefully "dyed his face brown" to appeal more to Hispanics.

Left-wing blog Democratic Underground posted a side-by-side comparison of Romney's usual color with the shockingly orange-brown glow he debuted Wednesday.

Did he think people really forgot what a two-faced, superficial asshole he was?

It is politics. If the party can't compromise, then you might say it is divided. That hasn't happened yet. Perhaps you are trying to frighten Democrats into unity. A more positive approach might work better.

He united the Democrats and Republicans in the MA legislature into veto-proof majorities, because the last two years he was in office he was vetoing everything that came across his desk.

Romney’s problem is he’s about as exciting as a lump of wallpaper paste. The MAGA crowd won’t like him because he’s not Trump, and the rational people won’t like him because he’s a corporate raider, his policies are all wrong for America, and he’s arguably the guy who caused the Great Recession. (That was caused by toxic derivatives being used to raise money for corporate raids...and Romney was the guy who invented that.)
