Pulitzer Prize winner Connie Schultz calls out Politico on Elizabeth Warren article

?s=21

We can start by treating women as candidates for president, not homecoming queen.
In response to Politico article
How does Elizabeth Warren avoid a Clinton redux — written off as too unlikable before her campaign gets off the ground?

Ms Schultz is also married to Senator Sherrod Brown

I no longer click on any links to Politico or The Hill and I would in general prefer that others refrain from posting their tripe. In this case the OP illustrates a public figure calling Politico out, but it should not be just for their gender bias...it should be for that and for Republican bias.

Newt Gingrich did it against Democrats (gender didn’t matter) in 1995... the clip below is from a section of his GOPAC document to Republicans entitled “Language: A Key Mechanism of Control”...

7.1 Often we search hard for words to define our opponents. Sometimes we are hesitant to use contrast. Remember that creating a difference helps you. These are powerful words that can create a clear and easily understood contrast. Apply these to the opponent, their record, proposals and their party.

candidates. A whole slew of negative words and phrases to apply to Democrats and liberals, and lots of flowery positive and “God Bless America” words to apply to republi-CONS and CONservatives.

I like to generate my own messaging manipulations. I like to capitalize the word “CON” and imbed it in key political words. It’s an imbedded message - to underscore, visually, that all the GOPers and “right” wing cohorts ever offer is a CON job.

This is psy-ops. Mind-fucking. Perception management. And we need to do more of this, too.

It's as if you can't both be successful and liked -- not if you're a woman.

But successful men are considered MORE likable.

Particularly older women. Non-sexualized at least, and presented as protagonists of their own stories.

That’s beginning to happen, compared to 10 years ago, let’s say... Not fast enough.

Politico is such a garbage outlet. If I never heard a thing from them then I would be better off. Thankfully I don't think they are getting under Warren's skin. She's tough as nails ans she is my first choice right now if she jumps in.

Can't find a link but it was a voter focus group of voters from across the spectrum from a few years ago who gave her high marks from a personality point of view.

I hope DUers don't buy into these faux talking points about her like this BS or the DNA test the way the media and RW will. They are no more than the Dean scream or Kerry wind-surfing BS again. Made-up nothingburgers used to tear down.

I love love love Elizabeth Warren, I love love Sherrod Brown, and now I love love Connie Schultz (how super cool is she, to defend someone who will be on stage with her husband in the primaries)... and from Warren's video biography I think I would be a pretty big fan of her husband too. It would be like having the Obamas and Bidens in DC again... four absolutely wonderful, compassionate people who would make this country proud.

And you know what I like most? I like her ideas, her drive to get things done, her competence, her intelligence, and her leadership. Her compassion for and dedication to American workers are also extremely likable traits.

Whatever Politico may dislike perhaps reflects more about them than it does Senator Warren.
