OMAHA, Neb. —Nebraska Medicine is monitoring a patient who could have been exposed to the Ebola virus, hospital officials say.

The unidentified American health care professional was providing medical assistance in the Democratic Republic of the Congo when the exposure could have happened.

Nebraska Medicine said Sunday that it would not provide status updates on the patient, unless the patient develops symptoms of Ebola.

Absent of symptoms, the next update will come at the end of the two-week monitoring process.
