Cyberattack from outside the U.S. hits newspapers across the country, preventing distribution

A cyberattack that appears to have originated from outside the United States caused major printing and delivery disruptions at several newspapers across the country on Saturday including the Los Angeles Times, according to a source with knowledge of the situation. The attack led to distribution delays in the Saturday edition of The Times, the San Diego Union-Tribune, the Chicago Tribune, Baltimore Sun and several other major newspapers that operate on a shared production platform. It also stymied distribution of the West Coast editions of the Wall Street Journal and New York Times, which are all printed at the Los Angeles Times’ Olympic printing plant in downtown Los Angeles. “We believe the intention of the attack was to disable infrastructure, more specifically servers, as opposed to looking to steal information,” said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly.

archive.org

20 million books
345 billion web pages through time
Countless other items all down loadable and free.
I'm loading up data to view if the internet goes down and like you I am sure it will.

I think I am more concerned with everyday communication.

THAT is what really worries me. No internet, cable down, newspapers, cell towers, etc etc

No resistance !!!

We knew this was coming.... and they have not only done nothing about it, but in the wake of Russia electing drumpf president they have in fact welcomed events like this with open arms.

Perhaps somebody is poking or probing at our communications infrastructure vulnerabilities.

i have always felt it a mistake to have very critical industrial infastructure hooked up and relying on the internet for sole communications .
