Someone stole a gay couple's pride flag. Now the neighborhood is draped in rainbows

When Kimberly Filian heard that someone stole a rainbow flag from a gay couple in her neighborhood, she felt compelled to help out.
“I’m so sick of all this hate,” Filian told the Chicago Tribune. “I just feel inundated in the media and everywhere I look, all those terrible stories. It’s overwhelming sometimes. I felt like it was one thing I could do to show support — just something little.”
Filian decided to order dozens of rainbow flags, with the hope that her neighbors in Barrington, Illinois, would put them up in front of their homes as a show of solidarity, the Chicago Tribune reported. Now, the neighborhood, about 30 miles north of Chicago, is lined with pride flags.
For Casey Handal and Zadette Rosado, who had their LGBT-affirming flag stolen from their backyard, the outpouring of support has been a great relief — especially for their two young daughters, WGN9 reported.
“For me, whenever there’s a bad situation, I always remember there’s a silver lining,” Rosado told WGN9. “And this was our silver lining.”

I truly believe there is a change afoot in the country. People are sick of the hate, which is now out in the open. Like a pus filled pimple, it has to be burst, pain must be endured and then, finally, healing. We are, HAVE to believe, in the early stages of that process.
May this country heal quickly. May we ALL be part of the process.

It is just another four letter word. It would be nice if during these upcoming investigations that someone can corner the hatemonger in chief about how he needs to start healing the wounds of hate and prejudice that he has opened up. Of course that is a dream because that jerk would never climb out of the stink pit he lives in to try and make this country a better place to live in.
Let us all move forward in 2019 with those words in mind. All of us know how the wrong words can take us in the wrong direction. We need to be smart, well educated, and provide examples for the younger crowd. That will work to form a nation that is looked up to around the world.
