A North Kansas City company that bills itself as a savior of struggling rural hospitals has been late in paying employees at several facilities this month, and is also behind on rent and other financial obligations.
EmpowerHMS, headquartered at 1700 Swift Ave., operates about 20 hospitals nationwide, including several in Kansas and Missouri.
Employees for at least four of its hospitals in Oklahoma have reported late paychecks recently, according to a TV station report. Employees at EmpowerHMS hospitals in Kansas and Arkansas and a nurse at one of its Missouri facilities said employees there were also paid a week late in December.
This is peoples lives and livelihood, said Amy Mahurin, who works in the emergency room at I-70 Community Hospital in Sweet Springs, Mo.

(34,661 posts)so is this why you are not seeking reelection? Thursday it was some 37 nursing homes,mostly in South Dakota where this happened. And they are all closing up.

(112,370 posts)while owing some employees around $20K. While the employees at the hospital might believe that things will get better, I urge them to run (don't walk) to find another job.
If you are a patient at one of the EmpowerHMS hospitals, then make sure you get your medical records while you still can--that includes immunization records, test results, and imaging scans.

(34,661 posts)emerging with these Red States and their Medical facilities. All those payments from Medicare,Medicaid,and Insurance Companies will somehow magically end up in some bodies pocket and by pass the Creditors.
