The electoral college was pretty much known and defined on election night.
On some things, we did know what was happening before the election. We knew that the Russians had been involved in the DNC hack and it was suspected the wikileaks stuff. Hillary Clinton said as much in one of the debates and Clinton had the reputation of being a very cautious person. Not to mention, she cited the statement by our intelligence agencies.
I assume the campaign had some idea of the social media stuff -- though they may have underestimated how much was there and what its affect would be. I assume that some volunteers - especially in targeted communities - got that garbage and mentioned it. I know that some of the young Sanders people saw stuff and many refuted it online.
What surprises me is that the campaign did not seem to get that there was a decrease in commitment to vote or new questions in places like WI, MI, and PA. I vaguely remember that there were some volunteers in WI asking for help arguing that both Feingold and Clinton were not sure things. Yes, those accounts were on DU AFTER the election.
Obviously, if Clinton and her team knew more of what was to happen, they would have likely pulled out all stops to motivate the minority voters to vote and she would have gone to Wisconsin and Michigan.
