Yesterday, DU's "guru-in-becoming," Earl G, did another wonderful post about a gaggle of Republican hypocrites. Susan Collins, Senator of Maine, was included in his gallery of people who are fucking American voters every single day. And those voters are clueless.
My response to Earl G's post was that, in effect, Susan Collins, feeds the people of Maine fresh lobster daily, and that lobster isn't brown.
She voted for killing Obamacare, she voted for Kavanagh, she voted for the insane Republican tax cut, yet she calls herself a "moderate Republican."
I responded to it, but my neighbor's friend, who lives in New England, responded in a superior manner.
This morning, my neighbor received a (frozen) Fed Ex package with two lobsters in it. They were red, fully cracked and ready to eat.
Face it. Have you ever had a two lobsters for breakfast? (And they were red, not brown.)

(1,533 posts)It would be fair to say most lobsters are brown.
But saying noncooked lobsters are brown would be inaccurate.

(86,780 posts)they are actually a composite of colors including greens and oranges and heaven knows what else. Most seem to be settling on brown. I never tried to identify them as one color before, and I grew up in lobsterland.

(33,416 posts)The only live ones I've seen have been in tanks. The conditions in those tanks can be measured by how faded looking the colors are.
The predominant color always looked to be dark green, to me, and then all those other colors you mentioned kinda splashed around.
Our freshwater crayfish (a.k.a. "crawdads" in some areas here) look like miniature lobsters with much less variety in colors. There are colorful crayfish in the world, just not around here.

(15,057 posts)I hereby plead guilty to making this post about lobsters.
Actually, I didn't know that people were so interested in the color of pre and post cooked lobsters. But who am I to judge? After all, a lobster is a lobster is a lobster.

(11,949 posts)North American lobsters look and taste different from European lobsters. And Florida Lobsters, also called Crayfish are a fish of a different color. Pun fully intended.
I get your original point and approve.
But stay away from food metaphors. Smart people, like found on DU, take food seriously!
Thanks for a fun thread.
