At best, they resign being a Republican and become an Independent that doesn't caucus with the Republicans.

If they switched to being a Democrat, that would probably last until the next election, where they'd be primary'd out or if they somehow won the Democratic primary would lose to their Republican opponent.

to function. One party forcing its decisions against the opposition of the other is a recipe for destruction.

This man is creating a situation where at least some must come together to cooperate and compromise in order to achieve a majority.

This is good and wise. We need a lot more like this.

in my opinion as is anything or anyone that throws a monkey wrench into the operations of the GOP nationally, statewide or locally anywhere.

He's dropping his affiliation with the Republican Caucus, which means they won't have a majority to win the Speakership...and neither will the Democrats.

the Repugs did do it here. Our district went from a localized representation to a changed (read gerrymandered) district which went from Fairbanks to the coast of western Alaska and pitted two Democrats against each other....eliminating one seat of Dem representation. We have one Congressman (cough, cough) and, even worse, state politics is now a lot like Wisconsin, North Carolina, etc.
