The overwhelming evidence, the EXTREME out cry of the public will force congress to remove Trump.

To the people here who are hung up about the fact 67 votes are needed in the Senate to convict, think about this. When mueller proves Trump has committed multiple felonies, is a traitor, and the Republicans refuse to convict. Where will the Republicans in the senate and their families live?

Where will they be safe. They would not be able to go out in public. They would need 24/7 security protection. Millions of Americans would want to tear them to pieces. Convicting Trump will be self preservation for the Republicans

In a recent post I stated the American people have not come to grips with what is heading their way. This is not lying about a blow job. This is about Trump and his cronies being traitors. The shit is going to hit the fan. The American people are going to be extremely angry when they are awoken from their slumber.

What we all should be concerned about is, what path will Trump take? Will Trump resign and save our country from a very damaging impeachment process or will he and others commit more very serious crimes trying to stop the inevitable.

Many months ago I posted about how the American people may have sealed their fate when they voted for Trump. I knew it was the type of foolish mistake that you may not be able to walk away from without paying a heavy price. I still believe that, we all may have to pay some painful dues before this freak show ends.

Most Americans dont follow politics, a significant fraction does not vote, another chunk thinks it's all fake news and wont go in the streets to ask for Trump's removal or hold the senators accountable. Let's face it, our society has degenerated to the point where the citizens , in large part are uneducated politically, dont have any idea or care about the workings of our democracy.

The American people have always been a slumbering people. When you awaken them they get very grumpy and angry.

and/or something happens that makes them unable to stare at their phones or televisions or whatever, and they blame the administration for it.

I don't know; I get what you're saying about the "sleeping giant" or whatever, and it was sort of true at the time when and in the sense that it was said by Adm. Yamamoto in that movie about Pearl Harbor, but at this point I think a good percentage of the populace is not just slumbering, but in a deep, techno-drug induced coma, and the only thing that will wake them up (or, alternatively, stop their breathing) will be some kind of catastrophic shock that removes the soporific influences in which we've all been swaddled.

Unless the outrage reaches the 40% of GOP voters, nothing will come about.

...should ultimately dictate what Congress does.

Think about the absurdity of saying Republicans are too corrupt to hold them accountable for their corruption.

Will they ever come to grips with what has happened if they haven't by now? Will they ever wake up?

I blame the media. Not for any "fake news", but because any actual news is buried in a sea of opinion masquerading as news. We all know the keywords they use -- "both sides" "partisan" "Democrats" "what about?" "some say" "people are saying" "Bengazi!" ...

The occasional voice that tells the truth is labeled as "partisan" and is quickly dismissed by the mainstream of obfuscation, even for easily verifiable facts supported by overwhelming evidence.

One must pay fairly close attention -- as you obviously do -- to know how awful Trump really is and how he and much of the Republican party have committed very serious crimes. The frustrating part is that it's all there in clear language if you take the time to look at the facts -- it's so fucking obvious if you do -- but most people won't take the time to go online and read the original sources beyond the headlines. They will just turn on the TV and listen to the yapping talking heads who tell them that Hillary Clinton's emails were much worse, and it's all just politics anyway so why should anybody care?

For these reasons I have doubts that the shit is really going to hit the fan. As long as the Kellyannes are booked to spew their lies on every news channel, enough people will dismiss just about anything, even if Trump were caught on video, from multiple angles, shooting babies on Fifth Avenue.

I think what he and his party have already done is much worse than murdering babies -- they have been working on destroying our country for years -- and too many people don't seem to give a shit.

I find it hard to be hopeful about the future of the USA. If your scenario pans out and people do wake up, it will get very ugly, with violence as a strong possibility as the "heavy price" that you mention. If things just continue on as they have been -- "OMG!!! Did you see what Trump tweeted this morning!!!" -- with Trump running again in 2020, the price might be the loss of our country.
