Sorry for another GHWB thread, but I have not watched any of today's activities. I appreciate his

WWII service. I am sorry for the family. That's about all I can say.
Otherwise I just feel oddly ambivalent. Not angry or vengeful. No tears. Certainly no joy. Wish I had something more profound to say.
Whatever your thoughts are, more power to you. I am just not in mourning.

1. I respect his wwii service in combat. As the proud descendent of a large family who likewise served

So Bush's death has given me a lot to think about. Basically what I've learned from the retreat is that I am going to die, and the only thing that I shall take with me is my mind. Basically we die the way we have lived. What we experience in death is a projection of our very own mind. So it's best to practice now in this life to train our mind to be more clear, more open, more loving and compassionate. My prayer for Bush is that he have the most auspicious rebirth possible. That is my wish for everyone going through the death transition to whatever else comes next. I don't know what comes next. I'm not even sure if there is a next. It's always now.

I shall observe the very decent tradition of not speaking ill of the dead. There will be plenty of time later to critique the life and legacy of GHWB.

Gloria Estefan had a nice story about meeting him before she had her accident. Then, when she was in the hospital, he called her and kept track of how she was healing.

As with all humans, he's a mixed bag. I suspect there was much good about him that played out in his personal life. Tearing him down, now, serves no purpose.
