It's the 25 percent that was scheduled that is being halted.

So it's not a rollback but it's not going to get even higher.

Please anyone correct me if I'm wrong in my reading of this. I don't care to be right.

Trump agreed not to boost tariffs on $200 billion of Chinese goods to 25 percent on Jan. 1 as previously announced, while Beijing agreed to buy an unspecified but "very substantial" amount of agricultural, energy, industrial and other products, the White House said in a statement.

...

The White House said that if agreement on trade issues including technology transfer, intellectual property, non-tariff barriers, cyber theft and agriculture has not been reached with China in 90 days, that both parties agree that the 10 percent tariffs will be raised to 25 percent.

So, in theory, farmers, coal and oil companies benefit, so Trump can win them back.

The deal is all about what is best for Trump. Do be surprised to see him cave on metals tariffs if he see having them really start to hurt him politically, like the situation with farmers and coal was starting to do.

China seems to be very transactional in how it buys stuff, it will hurt Trump if he comes after it like he did, or help him if he caves.

that nobody can understand it and he can then tell lies to his base that he's fixed our trade problems.

The article says there will be no NEW tarriffs for 90 days. So the old ones go on even longer. And that China will buy crops that the farmers have already plowed under? Will they have to pay back the 12 billion in subsidies or do they just get to keep that?

Sure glad I'm not a farmer. They have to be going crazy from all this nonsense

Plenty of financial damage has already been done and nobody understands the end game.

That's the agreement so far. Probably in order to stop the stock market slide for a while.
