Hill headline scrambles Gorbachev & Putin tributes to GHWB, says PUTIN called him a genuine partner

This idiotic headline at The Hill

Putin pays tribute to George H.W. Bush: ‘He was a genuine partner’

https://thehill.com/policy/international/russia/419250-putin-pays-tribute-to-george-hw-bush-he-was-a-real-partner

suggests it was Putin who called GHWB a "genuine partner" - words that the Bush family would NOT want to hear from Putin.

But if you read the article, you see it's Gorbachev's statement instead, and a fitting one given Bush's role in ending the Cold War:

[div class="excerpt]Former Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev, who held talks with Bush and signed a landmark arms control agreement also praised the former president in a speech after news emerged that he had died at the age of 94.

“Many of my memories are linked to him. We happened to work together in years of great changes. It was a dramatic time demanding huge responsibility from everyone. The result was the end of the Cold War and the nuclear arms race,” Russia’s Interfax news agency cited Gorbachev as saying.

“I pay tribute to George Bush’s contribution toward this historic achievement. He was a genuine partner.”

Judging by the comments posted on that site, most people didn't read past the headline, didn't realize it was mistaken.

Hmm, what was Vlad the Impaler doing in 1989?

Okay, probably not, but it would be interesting if a KGB guy called a CIA guy a "genuine partner."
