I'm going to be really disappointed if the Obamas, Clintons, and Carters have to sit near near Mr. and Mrs. Chump at HW's funeral.

(99,710 posts)It makes it really awkward for the Obamas and Clintons. Given the fact HW was fond of the Clintons and Obamas and not fond of Trump his wishes should be honored.

(146,317 posts)It's tradition, really. Former, living Presidents pretty much always show up for such funerals of members of that club. They put aside their differences and political views and honor the former President who has died. I can't imagine it being any other way, really.
Now, whether the current occupant of the White House will recognize that tradition and respond by attending in that spirit, I don't know. If he is asked to speak, I have no idea what he's likely to say, and I suspect Trump doesn't know either. In his addled state, he's likely to try to make it about himself, which simply isn't done. It's inappropriate.
So, yes, they'll all be sitting in a row up front at this funeral. If Trump were smart, he'd either demur on speaking or say some words that honored his predecessor in a polite way. He's not, though, so if he speaks we're likely to hear yet another self-praising campaign speech, in which he embarrasses himself once again.
But, they'll all be sitting together, I'm sure.

(115,735 posts)which makes sense when you consider the Secret Service is responsible for protecting all of them, so they might as well keep them together. Which of them will have the "honor" of sitting next to the Trumps remains to be seen. I kind of hope it's Hillary next to Tiny just because it would bug him (she can take it; he can't).
I do hope he isn't asked to speak, because he'd make it about himself. I'm not sure how he would do that, but he'd figure out a way.

(5,591 posts)when, as modern tradition dictates, a past President is honored due to respect for the office and the current holder of that office is such a graceless lowlife Cretin that this is even as issue.
If the Cretin makes an appearance, (and honestly I dont see how he could be openly excluded without causing a crapload of accompanying media commentary making it all about him) lets just hope any focus on him is extremely brief and that he doesnt utter more than a few very short words, if any. (Better yet it may be raining and he can beg off)
There are plenty of people who could sit/stand between him and the actually decent humans attending the services. There are plenty of speakers who actually know how to talk responsibily and maturely that his garbled spew and obsessive, malignant narcissism can be avoided.
Gawd, what a wretched pathetic aura always permeates the air around the Cretin, always, everyday, everywhere.
