I'll say a few kind words about poppy

I've pointed out plenty of his evil over the years, and I'll continue to do so in the future.

But today, I'll note that he did sign the Americans with disabilities act, and he actually raised taxes when he felt the national budget called for it.

Meaning, for all his criminality and rottenness, he was also, on occasion, capable of doing what was actually in the country's best interests.

He was also the last republican president to have this trait.

And now, may the worms enjoy their feast.

He met with the Iranians and stopped the deal Carter was working on. I have very little faith the bipartisan House report that says he didn't.

I only meant that he wasn't a traitor in the same way our orange dufus is, but you make a good point.

I found a scary article how a number of the other guys who were shot down with him were actually eaten by senior Japanese Officers! Bush only narrowly escaped that fate himself.

Had they not done it, the Republicans would have been so fractured they would not have won in 1980.

He was ahead of his son by miles as a president, and light years ahead of that thing we have now. He served his country in war, and he deserves recognition for that. President Obama will be his normal compassionate self and do what he can to comfort the family.

Not just for what it did but for what it says about this country, that every inch of America is for all Americans. IIRC, when Hillary Clinton met with BLM activists she gve them what I thought was a very canny piece of advice, that in this country you change minds by changing the laws. If we have anything close to state religion, it's the belief in the law. Sure, the ADA is costly, and it's annoying at times that you can't have the only open parking space because it's for "handicapped", but the law moves people, albeit grudgingly, to an acceptance of and respect for their fellow citizens, regardless of ability. I recall this was controversial at the time and it was politically brave of Bush to champion it. For that, I honor him.
