I read another article that stated the market is expected next year to go up and down, and end the year possibly less than where it started.

Obama grew at about a 12%/year on average. It's grown a total of roughly 4,840 under Trump giving him about 12%/year on average.
Of course Obama turned a bad economy around to get 12% while Trump turned a good economy around to get 12%.

(37,648 posts)It's only the last few months that the market has dipped into correction territory. YTD it's not so bad. But the market had gone up in the first half, so the losses were steeper from that point to now.
The tariffs started it, I believe. GM reported that the tariffs cost the co. over $1 Billion. It's now laying off thousands, while Trump says it's not because of the tariffs. I would think that a $1 Billion cost (that continues into the future) would definitely cause a big company to do some changing in business plans.
Other cos. earlier this year announced layoffs of thousands of employees.

(4,461 posts)... confusing. The -22 is the diff between his approval rating and his disapproval rating. (60-38). His base - the 38% - is still loyal. But the disapproval numbers are increasing as more and more people pay attention and decide he is a worthless piece of crap.
The really interesting thing about this Only 2% have yet to pick a side? I guess theyre waiting for him to actually shoot someone on 5th avenue.

(4,461 posts)... saying his approval number had gone from mid to high 30s down to 22. (Based on some of the responses to your OP). I was just clarifying that it had not. Trumpers are not coming to their senses. But - The rest of the country is.

But the header is horribly worded, and the math is hardly ideal. Not the typical reference points for presidential approval rating. That's why they make sense to the OP but so many others in this thread are confused.
Should have been something like, "Gallup net approval ratings: Trump drops from 43-53 to 38-60 in one week"

(42,770 posts)Weekly poll and these numbers aren't even right. His disapproval jumped. But so did his approval.

(42,770 posts)It's interesting to watch ...although bad weeks for him don't seem to last. Probably because media doesn't remind people of old crimes. ( By old I mean 24 hrs ago .... This past week he did match his highest disapproval ( two other times). 60%

(1,291 posts)Here's the Gallup results since he took office:
https://news.gallup.com/poll/203207/trump-job-approval-weekly.aspx
So far, each time he has polled this low with Gallup, he then trended back some. It's been a continuous cluster fuck, but so far he's bounced back from this ceiling/floor. Hopefully, Mueller and the Democratic Congress will finally push his disapproval well into the 60s, but if these dead enders haven't abandoned him yet, I'm skeptical.
