Nice going racists.

Two nooses were found hanging at the Mississippi State Capitol on Monday morning around 7:15, according to NBC affiliate WLBT.

Hate signs also were found, although it unclear what they said or if the signs referenced the racially charged runoff Senate election taking place Tuesday between Democrat Mike Espy, who is black, and Republican Sen. Cindy Hyde-Smith.

Mississippi and Alabama are two states I have not set foot in since 1965. Nor shall I ever again.

Trump won't even be told about it, and Hyde-Smith will just make one of her grimaces and move on. Can't stand that woman!

I was at a park yesterday, jogging around the edges of game field. There were three separate, small groups doing their own thing. As I jogged past one I heard someone talking about their Thanksgiving day with family. Lots of relatives came for the event. Someone asked how the meal was. And I swear the response was: "It was as good as a public hanging. We had a feast." I thought, I'm sure I misheard that. I looked through the side of my eye. The guy definitely cast a look in my direction. Maybe to see if I had heard. I kept jogging on, thinking to myself, even if I did mishear it, can anyone believe that Cindy Hyde-Smith's choice of words hasn't affected the lexicon of racists?

Which goes to show that many people have a greed for violence, I think. It's not one of humanity's best features.

When the guillotine was rolled out, the food vendors and souvenir hawkers rolled their carts in, knowing a crowd would gather. Public hangings here in the US also drew crowds.

Now, not everyone was attracted to such spectacles, of course. It was always a minority who came to view and celebrate. We call those right-wing Republicans these days. If there were a public execution, they'd be there, ready to line up at the food trucks.
