My Christmas decorations every year:

A poinsettia. That's IT. Simple, inexpensive, festive - and lasts well beyond the first of the next year. My mother loves them so in honor of her I get one every year. (disclaimer: I have no kids/grandkids or other family around who expect more so I can get away with it)

at a garage sale years ago and I put them on my Christmas tree. They really do look festive!

I live in No. FL. and had a poinsettia so big it looked like a big shrub or small tree. They need a lot of water, are not drought tolerant at all, and protection from frosts and do better in at least a semi-protected area. My poinsettia tree died, so I've started another one from last years' plant and it's about tripled in size from last Christmas. If I planted it in the ground, it would be at least 5 ft by now.

My plants usually die within 6 months but one from two years ago is still OK. Last year it had tiny red leaves and this year none. My mom said I need to take it out of the light to make then red. My grandparents had one In Oceanside CA and it grew like mad. They had to chop the tree down to 6" each year.

However, in keeping with Trump administration policies, we removed all the Arabs, Muslims, Jews and refugees from the Nativity and all we had left was a jackass and a couple of sheep.
