Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez Hits Anti-Pelosi Dems: Her Critics Are Not Necessarily Reflective of the Diversity of the Partyby Ken Meyer | Nov 19th, 2018, 10:31 pm
Congresswoman-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) had some interesting thoughts on the dispute among Democrats about whether its a good idea to elect Rep. Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House again.
After a conversation with MSNBCs Chris Hayes about her belief in humanizing politicians, Ocasio-Cortez was asked about the members of her party who signed a commitment to not support Pelosi in any bid she makes to regain her Speaker position. Ocasio-Cortez said she reviewed the letter and found that it promoted change, but fails to articulate a vision beyond change for changes sake.

It's an ideological thing, Hope. Our personalities and what we want to believe affect our perceptions.
But it's looking as if her own observations, now that she's among other members of congress, may have greatly increased her respect for what she's now part of: Our caucuses have many good people trying to serve their people and every one of them believes in progressive government. (!) Maybe we need a better congress but not a "Brand New Congress" with the vast majority purged after all.
Hopefully, exposure to her colleagues is also greatly lessening the influence of the men running the twin pair of radical groups who helped get her elected (Justice Democrats and Brand New Congress). Notably, since she was elected, the one of those who came to DC with her to be her new chief of staff has been issuing inflammatory public comments that contradict, in some cases directly, her own.
She is of course responsible for his actions as her employee, but it looks like the abrupt reversal of their power positions may abruptly be causing problems she needs to deal with. Nevertheless, it's possible that some of the criticism stirred up against her may actually have been more the result of his decisions than hers.
We'll see. I'm hoping this statement reflects the real Ocasio. That said, I find it rather silly to criticize this group of opportunists, misogynists, and people supposedly fulfilling shockingly irresponsible campaign promises for not being sufficiently diverse. She does state disagreement with their trying to toss the pilot off the plane with no replacement in mind, and that's the crux, not at all dumb.
