had a terrible bout with some kind of Mold disease ...Her husband came down with some kind of illness which has destroyed his life.. This particular mold was found in certain houses built in the 80s.. He literally has become a vegetable .........sleeps all day and has little cognitive skills.
Yes investigators have diagnosed the problem as mold....they have been living with for 10 yrs.. Hasn't effected his wife ( My close friend) and their son... Yes they have a lawyer, but its an incredibly difficult situation...
Has anyone ever had any experience with this.??. The legal process is very slow.. but there is no doubt,,It's the mold..

(26,308 posts)She was diagnosed with breast cancer when she was in her late 30's, had a mastectomy, did chemo, and was "cancer free" for well over 15 years. All of her tests came back clean and she seemed healthier than ever.
Then, her health started taking a turn and she was re-diagnosed with breast cancer, again. Another mastectomy and a different kind of chemo. But, as often happens with a recurrence of cancer, it eventually went wild, though her system, and within about 2 years, it finally killed her.
She was a music teacher. Shortly before her new diagnosis, someone noticed some discoloration on one of the walls of her classroom. When they investigated they found a MASSIVE infestation of black mold. Who knows how long she had been exposed but we suspect it lines up with her failing health.

(26,308 posts)I'm having Thanksgiving dinner with her kids, this year. I haven't bothered with the holiday since she died so they convinced me to fly down to Florida, to be with them. And not just because, out of everyone in the family, I make the best gravy.

(42,020 posts)I work with immunosupressed patients so I see what relatively benign molds can do to to people. I can only imagine what an overgrowth of some kind of toxic mold does. I thought there were specific class action lawsuits against building materials forming molds, but I have no idea what a hurricane situation does legally.
