$100 of billons spent on stealth aircraft was for nothing. China builds radar that defeats stealth..

fighters.

Radar is a powerful military tool because it makes it possible to spot enemy aircraft beyond the line of sight. It does this by sending out a burst of radio energy, which bounces back when it encounters another object. So-called “stealth” aircraft try to get around this by becoming invisible to radar — either by using flat, angular shapes to reflect radar signals away from radar equipment or by using materials which absorb radar signals.

Stealth will be the owner of the skies for years to come. And unless other countries buy it or steal it from China, if it is even legit, that is still just one country that has it.

The stealth bombers appeared to be the size of insects on radar, The trick was to note that insects do not move at mach 5.

Targeting is the problem. It's been known for years that there are various technologies such as low frequency or bi-static radars can detect stealth aircraft. But once they are detected by surveillance radar the data has to be handed over to a fire control radar that will guide a weapon to the target, and stealth technology is optimized to defeat those types of radar.

Stealth is not the equivalent of a Romulan cloaking device that renders an aircraft invisible, but rather a number of technologies that limit the effectiveness of particular enemy threats. If an enemy radar can normally detect you at 100 miles but your weapons have a range of 75 miles and stealth degrades the radar range to 50 miles then you have an advantage, even though the enemy can "detect" you.
