Many, many republicans HATE mitt romney, I've been reading dozens of articles and interviews with republicans who simply can't stand mitt, for many reasons, not just his religion.
I can't remember an election like this, repubs ALWAYS fall in line no matter how stupid or unqualified the candidate may be, hell they absolutely loved bush jr., and were orgasmic about sarah the idiot, but they just can't force themselves to like the mittster.
I'm beginning to think the only way he'll win is by cheating, because he's so unpopular and unloved by HIS OWN FUCKING PARTY.
I think its hilarious, and I'm becoming addicted to popcorn, with extra butter.

(4,404 posts)Right around the birth of the Tea Party. There were plenty of right wingers moaning he wasn't conservative enough.
But I think you're right about Romney. Many Repigs just plain don't like him.

(31,706 posts)No matter who the candidate is there'd be a large portion of the party that would either hate or be apathetic to the candidate. That was the fun of last year's clown car demolition derby where we had a new flavor every week...the "base" couldn't fall in love with any of these contenders. In the end it was the establishment and money that won but still Willard rarely drew over 20% when there was another candidate or two to challenge him. He was the candidate by default...the one who didn't suck or implode as bad as the others did.
The rushpublicans are a very bitter and fractured party. They still can't deal with the realities of 8 years of boooosh regime pillage did to this economy or accept a "colored fella" as President but they can't rally around a leader other than Zombie Raygun. You have fundies who don't trust the teabaggers who don't trust the "elite" who ignore the Paulbots and so on. The only thing that holds all parties together is hatred, greed and the lust for power.
Willard adds to the frustration as he's such a terrible candidate. Besides being a world class liar who will say whatever it takes to con people into voting or letting him have his way, he continues to try to win over his own "base" months after supposedly securing the nomination.
The next month will determine how fervent rushpublicans will be with Willard. You have their dog and pony convention show and then the debates...if Mittens falters through these big events we could see a depressed rushpublican turn out...but I'm not taking that for granted as the hatred for this President seems to supercede all logic...
Enjoy your popcorn...I've been overdosing on the stuff for quite some time...
