Don't tell the Republicans but the Democrats may have saved our democracy on Tuesday.
It's fairly obvious to anyone willing to look realistically at the situation, that our country is on a rapid decline toward "something" we have never seen before. But, whatever it is, it is not good.
A wannabe dictator, and practicing demagogue, had taken control of our Legislature, our Executive, and some would say, our Judicial, also, was in the process of taking complete control of our government, with the assistance of Vladimir Putin. He was never working for the interests of America - it was all about enriching himself and his family.
If Democrats had not won the Congress on Tuesday, the future would be very bleak for America. As it is, there is now hope that we can survive until the demagogue is gone. No thanks to the Republicans. They have been complicit every step of the way.
Although our democracy is still in dire straits, there is now some oversight on the demagogue in the White House. No elected legislators in our memory have done more damage to our country than Mitch McConnell and Paul Ryan, the Republican leaders in Congress.
Maybe someday history will record that Tuesday's election saved democracy in America?
