General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI listened to a small portion of Romney's speech on NPR today
and I became literally sick to my stomach. It seemed like an eternity, but in reality was only about 5 minutes, but it was jam packed with very personal character attacks, innuendo, and racial dog whistles. Palin annoyed the hell out of me in 2008, but McCain to his credit, kept the ugliness to a minimum. I don't think Romney has a conscience or a moral compass. What I heard today was the nasiest vitriol disguised as concern I have ever heard coming from a candidate for President from a major party. I am certain this campaign will be the nastiest in American history. I sincerely believe that Mitt Romney is a completely amoral sociopath who will say or do absolutely anything to win this election. We saw glimpses of his pathological lying and slurs against his primary opponents, but it was child's play compared to the utterly despicable hate speech I heard today. I am not saying this lightly nor am I engaging in hyperbole. Mitt Romney is a danger to the Republic and must be stopped from getting any closer to the White House than the exclusive ex-governor's tour. He scared the living shit out of me today.

Edited for misspelling the word "absolutely". Apologies, but I am upset.

(8,791 posts)I didn't mind McCain or Palin so much personally. Def thought McCain was a good guy.
I despise Romney. He's a POS . Even the Republicans who ran against him in the primary despise him.

(18,641 posts)Once again the Republican describes himself and attributes his own faults to his opponent where they don't apply at all.
It's something the GOP has done time and time again.
Romney's whole speech was about how Obama doesn't talk policy issues but spends all his energy demeaning Romney.
It was one long whine of empty, childish insults without a single word of any policy issues.
This is a professional politician?
It sounds more like a spiteful little girl inventing insults of others to make her feel better about herself.

(34,447 posts)I predict universities will play this speech in Psych 101 when the concept of "projection" is introduced. It was whiny, arrogant, entitled, immature, and evil. What a POS.
