The Memo: Why Trump thinks he won the midterms

Trump believes he won the midterms.

The claim is clearly one-sided, given the Democratic takeover of the House — but it’s not nearly as ridiculous as some of his critics appear to believe.

Plenty that happened on Tuesday gives Trump and his allies succor — and reminds Democrats that ousting the president in 2020 will be more difficult than they previously hoped.

The wholesale repudiation of the president that the Democrats had been hoping for didn’t materialize. Trump’s control on his own party is firmer than ever. His base-first strategy worked in enough places, enough of the time.

this midterm. As you say it's the narcissism. He is constitutionally unable to admit defeat even when it is staring him in the face.

Are these people never going to catch on to the fact that every word out of his mouth is a lie???

and the most unfavorable set of open Democratic senate seats in nearly a century saved the incredible shrinking party from losing the senate to the Democratic Party.

But in 2018 Trump didn't just lose the house and power in several states, he critically lost majorities of women, young people and the suburbs.

In 2020 the big disadvantage in protecting senate seats switches to the shrinking party dominated by older, nationalist extremist white supremacists, and the Republican presidential candidate has to either be or follow Trump. Or Pence, a religious extremist who thinks he was chose to serve god by serving the wealthy.

We know they are a right-wing propaganda outlet, why help them spread their manure?

We don’t need to help them share their propaganda with a larger audience. We know they are mendacious and conniving. Please quit posting their bullshit here.

He was clearly totally convinced that he had been vindicated by the midterm results. All the habits of a calm man assured of his own victorious righteousness were clearly on display, from the petty shouting to the hysterical name-calling and the vengeful blaming of everyone but himself.

I'm unfamiliar with The Hill: Does it routinely traffic in this kind of horseshit?

I heard lots of blue wave and blue tsunami optimism, but I did not hear anyone say that the Democratic Party was going to have a super majority in either the Senate or House.

Democrats won the house popular vote by 8%. They won the senate vote by 12 million.

71% of Trump-backed candidates lost their elections. Some midas touch 😂.

Verdict: when both sides are equally enthused, Democrats win. Whoever wrote this crummy article needs to give his head a shake.
