Only bad thing: my rural county in north central Washington went hard for the R as it always does. All of Kim's votes came from urban/ suburban. She ran hard here! Deserves big congrats!

(4,138 posts)I thought that one would be close, and the few polls I saw reflected that, but she beat him by ~5%. I think that this race, and dozens of ones like it in affluent suburban districts is showing that the Republicans are getting squeezed out of those areas, which are often the swing districts of close statewide races. For now, they seem to be making up the numbers in an enthused rural base, but rich, educated professional suburbanites have always done the heavy lifting in fundraising and party organization.

I am happy to eat crow.
