As for the 'how does it feel to fail' panel, it's customary for a post-event interview to focus on how the athlete feels about the results. That's pretty much a standard question for winners and losers alike.

I never saw Fallon once, nor did I see anybody nibble on a medal.

The McDonald's panel is kind of amusing. The one mention of McDonald's I heard came from the announcers during women's boxing, when they were talking about the young British athlete who was competing (I think she won a medal). She was quoted as saying that the worst part of training is that she can't eat her favorite foods, which are McDonald's and pizza.
