Romney surrogates going up against CNN host Soledad OBrien clearly havent learned their lesson.
A day after former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu angrily told OBrien to put an Obama bumper sticker on your forehead, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, Mitt Romneys national campaign co-chair, suggested that the CNN host didnt understand English.

But, sir, its not a cut in Medicare, right? OBrien observed. Let me just read from the CBO. Its a permanent reduction in the annual updates to Medicaids payment rates. Its a cut in the spending future spending. And its cut that actually goes to insurers, right? I mean, its not cuts to individuals.
No matter how you say this, its a cut to Medicare, Pawlenty insisted. You cant even with a straight face, look your viewers in the eye and tell [them] that its not a cut to Medicare.
Well, I cant look viewers in the eye from where I am, OBrien pointed out. Im saying the way the CBO puts it.
That is a savings.
Do you know what that is in English? Pawlenty quipped.

(14,083 posts)Soledad O'Brien did an excellent job of pointing out their lie. I wonder how many other reporters will do that. Most will just let the lie stand and play it off as both sides do it.

Not a knock on O'Brien - I think she's great. But for ever minute of truth she tells, they spew 12 hours of lies.

(20,888 posts)Politicians often claim bill aren't written in understandable English, as Pawlenty explains in the next statement he makes.
It really doesn't get offensive to the end of the exchange where they just call her names. Which basically she then beats them up by pointing out miss using numbers is using facts to support your idea and neither is name calling.
There is independent analysis that details what this is about.
And name calling to me and somehow by you repeating a number of $716 billion, that you can make that stick when [you say] that figure is being stolen from Medicare, thats not true. You cant just repeat it and make it true, sir.
That's the best part Seriously if you are Mitt Romney do you want your supporters calling reports names on TV a week before your convention.

Neither of those assholes should be ever invited to CNN again. Blacklist them.

I have met her. Her claim to fame is that she researches the heck the before she does an interview or takes on a story. Having watched that exchange - she seems to have been very well researched. Fits the reputation.
But Pawlenty's comment - says nothing about her content, but rather an insult upon her understanding English that comes from right field... unless you are focusing on the name and assuming that the name means English is a second language. That would be prejudice (pre judging based on stereotyped beliefs.)
