The North Carolina State Board of Elections says humidity appears to be causing difficulties in feeding ballots through tabulators in some Wake County precincts.
Humidity.

Or just so crowded that the steam from the voters is wreaking havoc on machines.

(6,117 posts)The dew point is 70 and the temperature about 72. With simple air conditioning, when you cool things water condenses in everything. Many voting sites lack more sophisticated HVAC systems that can deal with that with a large number of people adding to the heat and humidity. To say it is muggy here today is an understatement.

(9,874 posts)Had to try to insert the ballot into the tabulator 3-4 times before it would take it. You feed the edge of the paper in until the tabulator (scanner) takes it and pulls it in the rest of the way and registers your votes. There were showers that day though I had no idea what might have been causing it. Poll worker was very helpful giving directions about how to do it, which was to feed it very slowly.

(42,862 posts)Here in Maryland, the ballot counting machine will report any under-voting or over-voting errors and the voter will be given the opportunity to make CORRECTIONS to their ballot. (The voter can also disregard the errors and the over-vote will be discarded and the under-vote will be ignored.)
When ballots are "stored securely" to be inserted into the counter later on by poll workers, any automatically detected errors cannot be corrected by the voter.
Is this a form of disenfranchisement when SOME people are given opportunities to correct their mistakes and OTHER people are not given the same opportunity? (Or am I over-reacting?)
