My polling place is literally across the street from my apartment. I took out some trash and the parking lot is full. I mean FULL and it's a fairly good-sized church. I live in a very blue area of Lansing, so what I'm seeing is awesome. I have to vote a little later because my apartment complex chose today for their fall inspections/smoke detector battery change and I have to be here to make sure the kitties stay inside. There wasn't this much traffic in 2016.
Go Blue!!!

Failing to move the date - make it a national holiday.

(9,773 posts)Just got back home glad I dont have to do this on my phone.
The polling place was jammed, live in a small town, it is literally has only one stop light.
Lots of blue shirts and jackets. Overheard a few people commenting that they have never seen this place as busy as it is today.
Looks like a good sign.

(34,425 posts)But after still being traumatized by 2016, I'm hopeful yet realistic. I don't trust my fellow citizens any farther than I could throw Trump tower.

(3,275 posts)It is good to hear that it was crowded. Hopefully it stays crowded. That is convenient to have the polling place right across the street. I'm lucky that mine is only two blocks away.

(34,425 posts)Proposal 3 is interesting, and if it passes, which it looks to, will make voting easier. I hope at some point that will include early voting. The Republican-controlled legislature passed a bill banning straight party ticket voting, so Prop 3 will restore that plus a few other protections.

(14,505 posts)Voting took longer because they eliminated straight ticket voting. Hope Prop 3 passes along with1 and 2.

(34,425 posts)Democrats have a good chance at taking back the State House, too, but the State Senate, I don't know.
