(4,947 posts)Do you not realize that the "peace pipe" thing is a horrible stereotype that you might not want to use? I mean, you can't really be that obtuse.
I have no "tender sensibility." I just don't fucking like racism. Sorry for that.

Onward AND Upward
(122 posts)They have been (since Oct 9th), working to get out the Native American vote in North Dakota. Knocking on doors, driving people to the polls, making ID's, sometimes on the spot at the polling place & feeding voluteers. They came up with the idea to circumvent the voter supression law that requires residential addresses. They are helping to GOTV in Nevada, North Dakota, Apache, Coconino and Navajo, Counties in Arizona, and San Juan County, Utah. Any money left over they will use for court battles and to GOTV in 2020. (22,156 posts)'stereotype', and making sound like a racist remark? Yes, I'll do me and you stick to yours.

(4,947 posts)Way to dig in, though, rather than taking a moment to realize why it is racist.

(9,865 posts)...yourself, you really don't get to decide what is and what is not racist, stereotyping or offensive about that characterization.
No matter how "positive" you "feel".

(13,615 posts)has regular street addresses. So do all of the other smaller towns I think, even though they don't get home mail delivery anymore. So they couldn't pull that crap with the addresses around here.

(53,410 posts)4% of what? The graph says over 400%.
Drahthaardogs
(6,843 posts)It does not say what the percentage relates to.

(6,843 posts)If there were 100 people who were eligible voters and last time 1% or 1 person voted early, this time 4 did, it's a 400% increase, bit still just 4 people.

(53,410 posts)But the glass is also half full. Theres a universe of difference in attitude there. So youre at least honest about bringing others down.

(18,640 posts)A 400% increase may only be the difference between 50 early votes two years ago to 200 this year. Assuming the chart only includes Standing rock, that may well be possible. It doesn't say.
My youngest granddaughter began voting this year, so total grandchildren voting in my family is up a whopping 20%. It's our Blue Wave.

(67,782 posts)If 100,000 people voted in 2014, that's "1". So this year the number of people voting would be 414,000.
If it was 10,000 in 2014, it's 41,400 this year, etc.
Simply stated - FOUR TIMES the number of people who voted in 2014 turned out to vote in 2018.

(36,494 posts)Heidi Heitkamp won her seat in 2012 by 1% point.
EVERY VOTE MATTERS

(61,694 posts)Our election in 2016 was sabotaged by outsiders intent on destroying our democracy. Too many people were too easily persuaded to vote against their interests - or not vote at all - and as a result we have Trump, a Republican Congress, and the destruction of our judicial branch.
I hope that we can begin to turn things around today but to be honest, lifelong damage has already been inflicted and will continue to occur.
Reminders of 2016 make me angry.

(53,410 posts)Just a reminder that the peoples overwhelming choice was ignored by an ossified electoral college.

(32,713 posts)Are they saying that they have 4 times as many voters this year, compared to 2016?
Or is it the same number of voters overall, but 4x more are early voting?

(25,874 posts)and while early voting being up is nice, if there are no new voters in the end, it may not matter.

(19,566 posts)ND is a weird one. Their never voted tally in EV was down by almost 80% from 2014. Some of that may have been due to the voter ID matter, and some may be apathy.
EV modeled Dem - 12,490
EV modeled Rep - 67,840
EV modeled Unclear - 19,946
However, nailing party affiliation in ND and predictions on how a person will vote are often off.
The good news is I heard the turnout of the Natives is good and their paper ID's are being accepted! Keep hoping, and if you're there drive people to the polls, make calls to remind people to vote and help GOTV!
