Trump Lasts 1 Minute Before Falling Apart In Ohio
Trump supposedly went to Ohio to campaign for Republicans, which he did for one minute before mentally collapsing into a rant about his own greatness.
Trump said:
Republicans have created the best economy in the history of our country and the hottest jobs market well, you take a look. Take a look whats happened. This is the hottest place economically anywhere in the world right now. I have some wonderful leaders of countries, presidents, prime ministers, kings, queens, some dictators, but we dont mention that. The first thing they say to me is congratulations, Mr. President, you have the hottest economic nation anywhere in the world.

Trump cant give anyone else credit. He doesnt share the spotlight with anyone else in the Republican Party. He also made it clear that these rallies arent about helping other Republicans. It is all about him.
The pressure of Democrats doing well in the midterm is getting to Trump. He has been even more ranty and unhinged than usual as the campaign has wound down. Donald Trump put himself on the midterm ballot, and he cant take the pressure as the likelihood grows that he will face a crushing defeat on Tuesday.
Trump Ohio was like all of his other rallies, but worse as he is melting down before the eyes of an entire country.

(58,785 posts)most say generally 4th grade, probably depends on subject and how tired he is. Or how stupid he thinks his followers are.
But I remember hearing that 4th grade level was something for Republican candidates to strive for. For him, who doubts it comes very naturally? That's part of his big talent.

(1,604 posts)A good orator talking to a general crowd should be able to speak at a 5th grade level, but should also, when dealing with more specialized audiences speak up to about a 10th grade level. Writing should be at about the 8th grade, simply because that basic level of informed analysis doesn't really solidify much before 8th grade.
Trump is notable because his writing is at a par with his speaking, which is at a 4th grade reading level, and he has very seldom deviated from that even in situations where you'd expect him to. My suspicion is early onset dementia or perhaps syphilis, as, while he's never been brilliant, he could speak cogently even a decade ago.

(58,785 posts)to writing instruction, how to construct different types of essays, in 8th grade English, which I took during summer school. I'd always just assumed that 2 or 3 a week instead of 1 or 2 a month (in those days) caused the kind of "epiphany" a ruler upside the head might have inspired in an earlier era. "Oh, opening paragraph, closing paragraph, some stuff in between depending." Got it!
My best guess for Trump is that he's shown public signs for 40 years of mental issues, such as a type of personality disorder, perhaps other problems, and we're still seeing that. There is a notable difference over the years, as you say. Syphilis hadn't occurred to me, but sure.
His dad of course had progressive dementia, and he could now be showing early signs of that; but it also seems very possible that another type of degeneration, of a chronic mental disorder with stress, or just getting older and not bothering to be his best, sliding into what he can do by rote, might be part of it. I'd been wondering before if he might be dozing off, Reagan style, during his long non-work hours, but this high-intensity swing from rally to rally, 2 and 3 a day for the past 5 days and 16 in October, without any uncharacteristic slips recorded, doesn't seem to argue for dementia. But then I didn't recognize signs in my mother in law for what they were for some time.
Maybe all the above. He's plenty weird enough to carry them all.
