BY MICHAEL BURKE - 11/05/18 07:34 AM EST
President Trump would lose the 2020 election against every woman mentioned as a possible Democratic opponent, according to an Axios poll by SurveyMonkey, aired first on HBO Sunday night.
Why it matters: Trump is underwater with women voters (64% of women view him unfavorably), and particularly among white suburban women a group that will be critical in 2020. Look for Democrats to turn to their top 2020 female candidates after Tuesdays election. A record number of women are running and a record number of women are expected to vote and win come Tuesday.
Trump vs the superstars: Even though they're unlikely to run, both Michelle Obama and Oprah Winfrey would crush Trump if the election were held today, according to the poll conducted by SurveyMonkey.
And both women lead by double digits in favorability. Trump's favorability is just 40% among registered voters, per the poll, compared to 62% for Obama and 55% for Winfrey.
Trump vs. the rising stars: More probable but lesser-known candidates Democratic Sens. Kamala Harris (Calif.), Amy Klobuchar (Minn.) and Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y.) would all beat Trump, too.

(814 posts)But I expect better from white women. Women are discriminated against and have fought valiently for their rights, only to vote for this sexist moron. That boggles my mind.

(34,857 posts)She does worse than Hillary against Trump and only bests him by two nationally. That margin is scary close for a president as unpopular as he is and it can't be directly tied to the fact Warren is an unknown because she's probably one of the more known senators in the country. This is my concern with Warren - perception of her has already been established and it'll be very difficult for her to change that perception in a head-to-head election.

(60,536 posts)And they really don't think Elizabeth Warren should run, according to a new poll.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren may be the 2020 Democratic frontrunner according to CNNs purported power rankings of the potential candidates. But in her home state, most residents dont want her to even run, according to a new poll.
The Suffolk University Political Research Center/Boston Globe poll asked 500 likely Massachusetts voters for their thoughts on five of the states current and former elected officials who are seen as potential future presidential candidates: Warren, former Gov. Deval Patrick, former Sen. John Kerry, Rep. Seth Moulton, and Rep. Joe Kennedy III.
According to results released Thursday, Bay Staters dont really want any of them to run.
Warren, who has reportedly taken among the most concerted strides toward launching a 2020 bid, is viewed favorably by 57 percent of voters in her home state, compared to 35 percent who disapprove of the job shes doing. The poll also found that the Massachusetts senator holds a nearly 30-point lead in her re-election campaign this year against Republican challenger Geoff Diehl.
But when it comes to 2020, more than 58 percent of Bay State voters say they think Warren shouldnt run, while 32 precent said she should. Of all five individuals polled, Warren had the highest percentage of voters opposed to a presidential bid. Even among Democrats, a slim plurality (44 percent to 42 percent) said she shouldnt run. David Paleologos, the director of Suffolks polling center, told the Globe he found the results shocking.
