(5,914 posts)Which is as long as I've used caller ID and answering machines.
And now with call blocking, I'm not even aware they even tried.
They are still running polls like it's 1955.

(50,303 posts)The numbers already voting and the interest of young people make me think this will be a blue tsunami.

(65,168 posts). . .i see the number calling come up on my TV. If i don't recognize the number, or a name doesn't come up of someone we know or a company we want to talk to, we ignore it.
That said, this time of year, i will answer numbers i'm not sure about to see if it's a pollster, because i want to take every opportunity to hammer Rauner and Kinzinger.
On Edit: On my cell phone, i NEVER answer from a number i don't know. Anybody that actually has my cell number is listed in my contacts, so their name shows up, not their number. No name, no answer.

(6,129 posts)The only acceptable form of prejudice in this country is ageism. Alot of old people remember history. They have more insight than young people. And many of them are Democrats.

(32,093 posts)And, I will never, ever erase the GOTV message I got on my answering machine from Barack Obama yesterday. I'll need it as an antidote for the spew that comes from that lying blob or orange man-baby goo for as long as we are stuck with that fucking shitbag.

(1,576 posts)Thank god for caller ID.
I will not answer any 'unknown' caller. I get five to ten calls a day
from these people (political calls, scams, whatnot), but unless I personally
know the caller, or they leave a message, they don't talk to me.

(12,029 posts)Never on my cell. Old people more likely to have landlines.

(13,576 posts)Haven't been polled in a long time.
The last time I was polled the caller ID said it was a poll so I answered and it turned out to be a repub push poll. So I'm not even inclined to answer if it says poll on the ID.

(4,533 posts)Its a miracle. How the hell do they do it?
Flaleftist
(3,473 posts)As I understand it, pollsters consider a number of factors like the age and gender of the respondents and give each respondent a weight to make their sample match census data. So if they poll more old people, the young people who answer will have a higher weight when they calculate the odds.
