<snip>
Will we take a step, even a small one, back from the ugliness and the race-baiting that has engulfed our country?
Or will we affirm that we are really the intolerant and frightened people Donald Trump has made us out to be?
If we choose the latter, 2018 will in some ways be more difficult to take than 2016. This time, we dont have the luxury of saying we didnt really know what Trump would do.
Our eyes are wide open.

(1,414 posts)and improving. His racism is one thing, that's going to appeal to a certain cohort (perhaps 30% of the voting country) no matter what. But his staggering incompetence is fully apparent, and yet another 10 to 15% of the voting nation thinks that is ok. This is to me the MOST disturbing aspect. Indeed we most vote like our lives depend on it. It's more than America at this point, it's humanity that faces this danger.

I would think its somewhere between 30-34% if that
If you would go to North Central Indiana its solid Red and that is probably where they did their survey....

(8,685 posts)we are truly screwed as a nation.
unless the Russians turn the tables again..but I think we have have enough safe gauards in place provided by Democrats to make sure this on is not stolen..
I think we will win the Senate too !!
Its an absolute shame that here in the United States we have to worry about an election being stolen..This only happens in a Third World Country

(1,414 posts)in charge, but rather want to continue to plunge our nation into an unstable position. He suggested that the Russians were content with our current situation of division, and that the Dems coming back into charge would push the far right to outright rebellion, a very desirous situation for Putin. I thought it a curious idea.

(8,685 posts)Just a bit of fear that something like 2016 could happen again. If it does its fucking hopeless.

(34,485 posts)I'm not exaggerating. If republicans retain control of the House, then the sky's the limit for lawlessness and the end of Social Security, Medicare & Medicaid. I really don't think our democracy will survive. I'm hopeful for the Senate, too, but I'm not as optimistic.
