A Historic Announcement from Shaun King

I don’t think I’ve ever been this nervous posting something on Medium! No, I’m not running for office! And no, we are not having another baby! 😂

What I am about to do, and what I hope you will do with me, is a dream come true though.

In 1847, with slavery still in full force, two brave men, Frederick Douglass and Martin Delany (both pictured above), started an abolitionist newspaper called The North Star — named for the star, Polaris, that was often used as a guide for those seeking freedom in the North.

Douglass and Delany knew then, as we know now, that in order to fight back against injustice, their stories had to not only be well told — with the color and dimension and nuance that was frequently missing elsewhere, they knew they needed a newspaper that represented the cause of liberation with urgency, clarity, heart, and soul.

We need that right now. This past week proved that to me. And we’re going to build it together.

171 years after it first launched, with the blessing and permission of the family of Frederick Douglass, I am relaunching The North Star alongside my friend and brother, Ben Dixon.

There are plenty of reasons to question king's true mission.
Dedicated or self serving.
There are those BLM participants who stand on the front lines of protests and refuse to give King credit since he's safely holed up at his computer somewhere.

His distribution of funds he's raised is a sore spot also.
Of course he defends his expenditures but the numbers never quite added up.

I'll pass on ever rec'cing Shaun King but stand by wholeheartedly for the Black community and all those who walk arm in arm & protest on the streets for justice.

Shaun can continue tooting his own horn as he wishes, however.
No Thanks Mr King. The kudos go to the proven sincere.

Fredrick Douglass was the hero you've latched your latest self-promo stunt onto.

Fredrick Douglass was the hero. Shaun King is an opportunist & he's no Fredrick Douglas.

Kng's google bio does him no favors.
And that's from the voices of his own people. His ex followers who turned away when they realized who was doing the heavy lifting. It wasn't him.

His past is way to toxic to give him the credit he wants.

See Google: Shaun King. There is a lot there and NO it is not RW talking pts.
It comes from within his own BLM members.
Thanks

I don't have to like who King is, just to applaud the work on the ground of Black protestors for their fight for justice.
