The sad fact is we thought we had it in the bag in '16. It was not until after that election that we saw many, many problems I don't have the time or care enough to list right now. I'll just say that we can look ourselves.
There is no doubt in my mind that Russian trickery and Trump/GOP treason, cost us PA. I know this because I voted in PA for Hillary and, just like every PA voter, I voted on a touch screen that left me with no ability to verify that the machine recorded and transmitted my vote accurately. I also, know that when I voted in 2014 for Gov. Tom Wolf, I was voting with the majority of PA voters in a mid-term election, for the nerdiest, most anti-Trump-like person in our state.
These facts are still looking me in the face.
So, from my own close look at elections in PA over the past 25 years, I came up with my own rough number of about 3%.
We need to out-vote the PA repugs by at least 3% to ensure victory in any random sampling of the '18 PA vote.
Do you think we are tough enough to come up with "cushion" of 3% in PA, or anywhere else in the USA, on Tuesday?

(2,064 posts)Vote!
It's all we can do and I believe in the blue wave! I'm going to the polls and doing my part to make it happen. I've donated money to make it happen. Turnout numbers look great so far.
Note to pessimists and cynics:
If you want to be a pessimist, fine.
Would you please consider keeping it to yourself until November 7? If we don't take the House, please feel free to show up and gloat.

(37,648 posts)He's saying not to take the good polls to heart too much, like in 2016. Go vote! We can't take anything for granted.
In Nov 2016, some people stayed home because they thought that Hillary was going to win. Personally, I think she did win; it was the Russian interference that fraudulently gave Trump a win. But if we had turned out in larger numbers, we could have squeezed out a win, even with the Russian interference.
Vote! I voted on the first day of early voting.

Vote.

(7,702 posts)Also, I would guess at least 99% of the DU voters are voting for Dems.
And, I NEVER said, or implied, that we do not vote. If you read my entire original post.

(32,733 posts)this time. It's going to be a blowout, not just due to democratic turnout, but also because the people trump is counting on--republicans--I don't think they're all going to vote the way trump expects. I think the registered republicans who are not struggling through an untreated mental illness are 100% disgusted with trump and will show their disapproval at the polls. For every victory we get next week, add 3 to 5 points to it to get the true margin.
I've been vote stalking all my friends and family and every single person I've checked has voted already. Including first time voters.
Last election, people were smug in the knowledge that trump would lose (not me, but millions of people who voted 3rd party or stayed home). All the bullshit about trump becoming presidential, etc., has fallen by the wayside. Nobody is dumb enough to think that will happen. We've seen his ugly evil nature in full view. This piece of shit can't even contain himself in the wake of tragedies. He is absolute scum! There's no tax cut in the world that can justify the bullshit/ emotional assaults this nation has endured on a daily basis for the past 3 years. That clown has probably robbed me of a year or two of life and beauty FFS!

(22,610 posts)Yes, the odds look good but how does it help to make it happen in acting like it's a done deal?
Too many on the Left already don't need much of a reason not to vote in a midterm election so I see no point in encouraging that attitude like it's already in the bag. I'd rather see the Left vote like it might lose.

/paraphrase/ 'I guarantee that all across America election day, Republican wives will tell their husbands they voted for Trump after they pulled the lever for Hillary'

(58,719 posts)That's still the proper answer. Yes, we need to outvote them because we have to beat the point spread. Can't do that if we don't vote.
