With less than a week to go before the election, the doom and gloomers will be out in force, trying to convince you there's no hope and to discourage people from getting out and voting. Happens for every election, even on DU.
Pay no attention to that crap. Get out to the polls and take as many people as you can with you. We can win this!

(12,265 posts)Every single vote counts and we need every single vote! That isn't Debbie Downer, that is a fact of life. We have to be willing to work as hard to GOTV as they are working to quelch it.

(9 posts)...count anyone who isn't an established registered voter and owner of a smartphone. Bias!

(1,296 posts)polls DO count people who believe they are registered to vote but have been purged. We need every vote, even in races where they tell us we're comfortably ahead.

(7,434 posts)Are you attempting to intimidate?
I have no reason to discourage people from voting and Im pre-emptively incensed at anyone who would discourage anyone to vote. But Im also intolerant of anyone who uses ANY form of intimidation on this or any forum.
MineralMan
(146,325 posts)No intimidation, because I never use it, except to inform myself. I find it helpful in deciding whether or not to engage with people. Lots of people do that. So don't worry. I've never even noticed your screen name.

(5,914 posts)The bullshit level here will reach stratospheric proportions. And we think it's bad now.
Just stay focused. Keep your eyes on the prize. Vote, and get other like-minded people to do likewise, particularly if they've never voted before. The only way the GOP wins is by employing every dirty trick in the book, but dirty tricks can only go so far.

(5,914 posts)We all became complacent. We thought the trains would still run on time, and we could just let other people sort it all out. Voting is an inconvenience. Let other people do it.
Now we all know better. We all see the consequences. I am thinking that we made a mistake that we will never make again. And I'm encouraged that people are early voting in unprecedented numbers.

(7,725 posts)no need to even get out and fight the trumpers at the polls. Ahem.
We're going to win big. SOOOO tired of all these races where dems had near double digit leads that are now...amazingly...neck and neck and just a hair of a point apart. If that in fact IS true...then it's proof positive of a propaganda routine that 'prepares' the populace for the "big cheat', so we aren't burning down city hall about 930 tuesday night...nationwide, every election night.

(7,142 posts)Gallup may be the most well known but it is not reliable. I can give examples where it put bad data into past elections. Gallup just dropped Trump down to 40% approval, I am retired, and I will quit golfing if Trump has a 40% approval rating. IMO he has never hit 40%.
Here is a big factor that not many people are talking about; unlikely voters. Polls track likely voters and rightly so, but this isn't a normal election, this election is democracy vs fascism. The unlikely voters are going to make a difference this election, they are not being factored in and they are going to vote Democratic.
Here is another big factor. Polls are showing that Republicans are voting in good numbers in early voting, but; there aren't going to be many registered Democrats who are dissatisfied who vote Republican, but there are going to be a heck of a lot of Steve Schmidts and Nicole Wallaces who are going to vote Democratic.
All of these factors favor Democrats which means that we are going to see a blue tsunami, like flip 60 House seats and take back the Senate.
Let's do it, I can't wait. Vote.

(14,176 posts)ie...I'd rather hear overly concerned Democrats that shout doom and gloom if we don't get out and vote.
As opposed to Blissful Bettys that are gleefully riding their self-described blue wave, and maybe figure they don't even have to be bothered to vote.
Unless you were describing some other group as the Debbie Downers. Who then? Because isn't it us that are supposedly ahead in the polls, if even barely? So why would anyone be despondent about not winning as the reason they are DDs on our side? That doesn't make sense. I could see it if we were 10 points down everywhere. But surely its the Republicans that might have more of the Debbie Downers in their ranks.
