A couple of news outlets use the word "killed" but don't add any factual detail beyond "found dead".

If "beaten" is accurate, that could not have been pretty. At 89 years old, he could easily have been gently pushed and suffered the same fate.

12. The mob was in power in KCMO intil the 70's, I think.

They over played their hand when they blew up 2 bars in the River Market area. It was called River quay back then.

And they killed another man in his own driveway. The whole bunch of them lived close to wear I live.

Then the heavy hitters all got sent to prison for tax evasion and other crimes. I thought they were gone.

Wrong. They are still in operation but now they are quiet about all the illegal stuff they do. No more blowing and shooting each other up. I worked for one of them not too ago. He and both his kids spent time in prison for paying a $25 000 bribe to get a demolition contract.

There were still quite a few Boston people pining for the good old days of Whitey. Enough that he was getting snuck into the Stanley Cup Finals in Vancouver.

was also the name of the sweet lil guy murdered in Liverpool England by a couple 10 year olds in '93....the story about a 2 year old angel lured away from his busy mom who was paying the butcher, distracted just enough to allow thompson/venables to call Jamie over....in 1986 i was 3rd eng. on a tramp freighter when we smashed into breakwall; 3 weeks in Liverpool. .the Strand mall where Jamie was kidnapped- i actually recognised news report pictures of the shop (sec camera photos of the 2 boys holding Jamie's hand as they led him away) i know this is way way ot, but ....the sadness even after 25 years so great that recounting the lil guy's death ...i'm a brutal old man....poor sweet little Jamie
