(82,849 posts)The U.S. Code is very specific about nepotism, and that even the President is subject to the prohibition against hiring relatives or close family members (including in-laws). Trump has gotten around this prohibition by claiming that Ivanred, Don Jr., and Eric are not being paid for their invaluable work for the administration.
That certainly may have changed once people stopped looking quite so closely at the arrangements, but the last time I checked, the White House was dodging the prohibition by not paying the help.
