what donnie is doing is not actually about the midterms.
in traditional political terms, what donnie is doing is called "sucking the oxygen out of the room".
he's grabbing the spotlight and taking it away from republicans who he theoretically should be trying to help.
of course, donnie would say that he's getting his own base excited, then asking them to vote for republicans to support him in congress.
however, that's traditionally done by making a *brief* appearance at a rally *for the congressional candidate*, and spending most of the time talking about how great the *congressional candidate* is.
donnie, instead, is making it all about himself (as usual), and actually making it hard for the candidate he's supposedly trying to help get any visibility.
fact of the matter is that most republicans have largely resigned themselves to losing the house, though probably holding on to the senate. both these outcomes are at this point highly likely (obviously anything can happen, but both these outcomes are well over 80% likely). donnie probably doesn't care, at least not nearly as much as any other president would, because he doesn't really try to pass much legislation anyway. he rules by executive order and twitter, and the midterms won't change that.
no, what this is really all about is furthering his white supremacist agenda, and pushing us further down the path toward genocide.
the normalization of violence is not a bug, it's a feature of his agenda.
he's setting the stage for more partisan and bigot-based violence.
that's what his rallies are all about.
