5. Actually, his exact quote is true.

Read it carefully:

"We’re the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of the United States"

That is a true sentence. Even though Brazil has birthright citizenship, a person born in Brazil would is not "essentially a citizen of the United States". If he had said "We’re the only country in the world where a person comes in and has a baby, and the baby is essentially a citizen of that country" or something similar, he would be lying.

9. Sometimes Donnie's ineptitude with English language works to his advantage

I doubt that he he crafted that sentence in such a fashion so that he could later claim that he was not lying. But in any event his devoted followers don't really care. I heard a great explanation of this by an interviewee on KPFA yesterday or the day before. The speaker was talking about the nature of fascism and how fascists concern themselves with getting and keeping power, and how any means to that end are considered legitimate. He postulated that Donnie's devoted followers know when he's lying and cheer him on when he does so, because they see anything that advances their grip on power as a plus.

In his case his family was in Canada when he was born but he claims because his mother was from another country (U.S.) that he was born American through her American body. This qualifies him to run for the presidency in the U.S., but not Obama because his father was Kenyan even though his mother was American. These distinctions are important.

... not for those born in the US of US citizens, either natural or acquired. If you fall into the later category, you have nothing to worry about... at this time.
