General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI hadn't noticed a lot of opposition ads running, until this morning
Now they are starting to run the anti Prop-1 (legalizing marijuana), anti Prop-2 (fix gerrymandering) and an increase in ads for the guy running against Senator Stabenow. Funny - his ads don't include his statement that he supports trump* "2,000%". In fact, after watching his ads, he kind of portrays himself as the polar opposite of his hero. On the plus side, it isn't an attack ad - at least not in the one I saw.
The anti Prop 1 ad is pure scare mongering. One of the worst and most misleading ads I've ever seen in quite a while. The anti Prop 2 is just like white noise.
And, when you see Schutte's ads (running for governor), you would think he was running against Jennifer Granholm, rather than Gretchen Whitmer. "Interesting" strategy.
But I know those ads are going to influence people. It's going to be a long, stressful week. Hopefully I'll have some left over Halloween candy so I can 'self medicate'.

(26,263 posts)Gretchen Whitmer is running great ads, as is Debbie Stabenow. And the pro Prop 1 and 2 ads have been clear, IMHO.
This guy running against Debbie Stabenow is a political newbie. He's running on his being a veteran and a family man. So, just the opposite of trump*. It must be very confusing to be a republican, right now.

(26,263 posts)Hopeful for the propositions, and the candidates but after 2016, I'll never, ever again let my guard down on election night.

(26,263 posts)It just feels like a make or break event. I know I've never felt more stressed in the lead up to an election, mid-term or otherwise.
And there's that whisper of a fear that, if we do take the House, and especially if we also take the Senate, there will be a bad lashing out by the trumpsters. Hopefully they are just as cowardly as I suspect, but there are groups of them that seem to feel overly empowered, right now, and those are the ones I worry about.

(9,728 posts)Im a Lions fan. I plan on the worst outcome mentally then a win is an ecstatic feeling and a loss is not a surprise. I dont believe that if we meet our expectations in this election there will be an uprising by the deplorables.
I worry what the psychoboulevard in the White House will do. Oh, to explain...path is a little too small to describe him.

(26,263 posts)I have no doubt some of his cult will act out in some way, if things go too blue. It might not hit near me - I'm in a VERY blue area of Michigan - and I remain hopeful that any uprising can be derailed by strategically placed 'Free Beer' and 'Free Doughnuts' signs that point to no place in particular. My theory is that they will wander in search of gastronomic treats rather than cause any serious discord.
Maybe we can even leave trails of left over Halloween candy for them to follow.
