UPDATE: "Suicide while handcuffed"->Chavis Carter 'Suicide' Reenactment By Jonesboro Police

I wrote about this story earlier, coming up with what I thought was a way the young man might have died neither as a result of police brutality or by his own hand...in the form of an accidental shooting by the victim while retrieving the gun. Others didn't think there was any wiggle room and that he'd clearly been murdered by the police.

I don't think the video above conclusively validates or invalidates any of the guesses we made a little over a week ago but...it sure is an 'interesting' watch if you were following the story. Interesting in quotes for reasons which I assume will become apparent watching the video.

Yep, I though that stood out a lot, especially in the still photos of the other officers. Poll_Blind Aug 2012 #6

1) how did they miss the gun in the pat down?
2) I thought the bullets were to the back of the head

I admit I have not followed this very closely.

...the pat-down is still very much up to speculation. However, the image below is of the gun which appears to be the same make and model which the police allegedly found by the body:

I've seen smaller pistols, but that's pretty small. Still, presumably a pat-down is intended to discover even small items such as that. I don't know if there's some semantic difference between "pat-down", "frisk" or "search", or whether that makes a difference in how thorough the search is. Though, you have to admit...after the second pat-down, one would assume the police were "seriously" searching him- or attempting to.

After having been in handcuffs a couple of times, I will tell you I never had that much wiggle room in cuffs. I had the bruises and numb thumb to prove it too.

Especially the female officer.

I've never been handcuffed by police so I have no frame of reference to understand how loose those are or, more specifically, if they're looser than they would have been on the victim.
